Christmas is here again and its holiday and festive mood as well. In Pretoria we go around in shorts and T-shirts and also listen to the songs about white Christmas. I included couple of paintings by B. Kustodiev (1878-1927), which depict winter. Since he was of an admirably merry disposition (in spite of his paraplegic condition since 1919), his paintings of winter’s events seem to be all joyful and sort of christmasy.
Merry Christmas 2012 to you all. In order to save a tree (at least partially), I’ve had it printed.

“Maslanitsa”, 1919. Painting by well known Russian painter and stage designer Boris Kustodiev (1878-1927). I am adding these pictures to show the beauty of the clear, sunny winter morning.
