Austin Roberts Bird Sanctuary.

I am not a bird watcher, but since I pass the reserve couple times a week, I thought it would be a good idea to pop in there and take some photos. I was pleasantly surprised to find the bird hide, and a family (I assume it to be a family) of Crown Cranes in there.

There is a guided walk, bird hide and an exhibition hall.

This bird sanctuary is named after ornithologist J. Austin Roberts, born in Pretoria in 1883. He is best known for his book “Birds of South Africa”, published posthumously in 1951. Its 7th edition appeared in 2005, and is a standard work on birds of this region. He died in 1948. (This photo from Wikipedia).
